Food Waste Requirements
A regional food waste
requirement begins March 2022 and many businesses within the region will need to comply
by 2023. All businesses generating more than one 60-gallon roll cart of food scraps per week will be
required to separate their food scraps for compost.

- Start and maintain food scraps service
- Set up internal bins with county-approved posters and labels
- Separate food scraps for compost
Free Start-Up Kit for
Compost Customers
All Covered Businesses are eligible for free starter kits that include everything your business
needs to be in compliance with this new requirement, including:
- Free indoor collection containers
- Educational posters and stickers
- Staff training (in English and Spanish) and assistance
