Event Recycling Program!
The City of Klamath Falls and Waste Management are partnering to increase recycling at community
events. The City's event recycling program provides you with everything you need to set up efficient
recycling collection including recycling containers, bags for recyclables and recycling signs at no
charge. By recycling at events, you are helping to save energy, reduce water pollution, reduce water
consumption, preserve natural resources and create jobs.
Checking Out Recycling Containers
- Contact the City of Klamath Falls Parks office at 541-883-5351 to reserve recycling
bins.
- Complete the reservation form. City staff will help the event organizer determine the number of
recycling bins and bags needed for the event.
- Pick up recycling bins and signs at the City of Klamath Falls Parks office at 226 S. 5th Street.
- Collect recyclable materials at your event.
- Return the recycling bins and reporting form to the City. All containers should be wiped clean
before they are returned.
Setting Up Successful Event Recycling
- Maximize collection of recyclable materials with strategic placement of recycling containers and
signs. When trash ends up in recycling containers, the whole bag is considered contaminated and
becomes trash.
- Distribute recycling bins throughout the event grounds, placing more in high-traffic areas.
- Place a recycling bin next to each trash can. Pairing containers can help to reduce
contamination and encourage attendees to recycle.
- Place recycling stations in convenient locations, like areas where people buy and eat
food.
- Put a few empty plastic bottles and cans in recycling containers at the beginning of the event
as an example of what is recyclable.
- Work with event vendors and staff to ensure they are familiar with what is recyclable.
- If possible, have volunteers monitor recycling stations during the event.
