City of Klamath Falls and WM Improve Communities through Multifamily Recycling Project
The City of Klamath Falls was awarded a WM Think Green® Grant as part of the environmental services
company's nationwide effort to improve community environments through cleanups, beautification,
recycling and educational programs. Nationwide, 50 grants were awarded.
Beginning this fall, property managers of apartments and condos will be able to order free recycling
bags for tenants. The bags will be distributed to tenants to use to collect their recyclable materials
in their units. The bags will help increase recycling at apartments and condos by making recycling more
convenient and providing a permanent reminder to tenants about what can be included in the mixed
recycling.
"Keep America Beautiful is committed to building and sustaining vibrant communities throughout the
country," said Matthew M. McKenna, president and CEO of Keep America Beautiful. "WM is carrying our
ideals forward in Klamath Falls through its partnership with the City of Klamath Falls. This
on-the-ground support provides a vital foundation to creating socially connected, environmentally
healthy and economically sound communities."
"The WM Think Green® Grant provides us with a great avenue to demonstrate how WM and Keep America
Beautiful Think Green every day," said Ben Hirengen, WM District Manager. "Helping to make our
communities cleaner and safer is part of our company's mission to be a good community partner." WM
supports KAB on numerous programs designed to increase recycling and support community
sustainability.
