Curbside Recycling
You can combine all clean bottles, cans, paper and cardboard in your recycling container. By
recycling you are helping to save energy, reduce water pollution, reduce water consumption, preserve
natural resources and create jobs.
Collection Calendar
Your recycling is collected every other week on garbage day. There is no limit on the amount of
clean recycling you can set out for collection. Put recycling that doesn't fit in your cart in old
recycling bin or cardboard boxes (limit 3'x3'x3').
Collection Rates
Recycling is provided at no extra cost with your basic garbage service. Recycling and
preventing waste can sometimes reduce garbage enough for residents to order a smaller garbage
container for a lower rate.
Additional Recycling Services
- Cooking oil - Place up to three gallons of used cooking oil (no solids) in a clean,
clear plastic screw top plastic jug (milk jug, soda bottle). Label with your name and
address and place next to the recycling.
- Motor oil - Place up to three gallons of used cooking oil (no solids) in a clean,
clear plastic screw top plastic jug (milk jug, soda bottle). Label with your name and
address and place next to the recycling.
Call to schedule recycling of the following items
- Appliances (charges apply) - Microwave ovens, toasters, refrigerators, freezers,
stoves, dishwashers, washing machines, water heaters.
- Electronics: Computer equipment, VCRs, DVD players, audio equipment, televisions,
cell phones and other electronics less than 60 pounds each and no larger than 2 feet
by two feet.
- Propane canisters (small camping style) - Small disposable camping style propane
canisters. Place next to the cart for recycling.
- Scrap metal: All ferrous and non-ferrous scrap metal that is free of wood, rubber
or other contaminants.
- Clean wood scraps: Clean, unpainted, untreated wood scraps that are no larger than
four (4) inches in 42 diameter or four (4) feet in length can be set out for
recycling. Some metal fittings and nails allowed. Material must be placed in
cardboard box next to the recycling cart and labeled "Wood Waste".
Battery and Light Bulb Recycling
- Household batteries and light bulbs can be recycled for no charge at City Hall
during regular business hours. Please place tape over the ends of all batteries.
Recycling Tips
- Empty clean recyclables out of bags and boxes and put them loose in
your cart so that they can be easily identified and sorted at the recycling
center. Clean paper bags and cardboard boxes are recyclable. Just
put them in your cart after you empty them. Recyclables in plastic bags may be
mistaken for garbage at the sorting center.
- NO plastic bags in recycling.
(Reuse or recycle at grocery stores) - Plastic bags get
caught in conveyor belts at the recycling center.

NO shredded paper in recycling.
Because of its size, shredded paper is difficult to
sort from other recyclables.

Empty, clean, and loose.
These three words can greatly improve the quality of recyclables placed in
your cart. You can do this by rinsing out recyclables and placing empty
containers directly in your cart loose, not in a plastic bag. Learn more

Extra Recycling. There is
