Riverbend submits plan for smaller expansion
Riverbend has been listening and responding to improve
operations and support the community in important ways.
Now, in direct response to community input, we are proposing a
smaller landfill expansion with a shorter operating life.
Our plan is to expand the existing landfill by 37
acres, which is significantly smaller than the
98-acre expansion proposed earlier. This will allow
Riverbend to operate for another 15 years, based
on current volume projections.
The plan includes trees and landscaping along
Highway 18 for visual screening. The visuals also
will change as the existing landfill is closed and
planted with grasses and shrubs to blend with
the natural landscape.
